Bedroom Farce by Alan Ayckbourn

Posted on March 9, 2017 at 6:05 PM

This play is the early Ayckbourn at its best and in spite of the title being called a farce, nothing could be further removed from the old Whitehall farces or the likes of “Run for your Wife" by Ray Cooney. Bedroom Farce is a play revolving around four couples, all of who know each other. It is a typical Ayckbourn study of people and their characters, and the darker underside of one of his characters.

Delia and Ernest, are having an evening out to celebrate their wedding anniversary; on the same evening Malcolm and Kate are having a house warming party to which their friends Trevor (who is the son of Ernest and Delia) and his strange wife Suzanne have been invited. Also on the guest list is Jan, the previous partner of Trevor, and husband Nick who is in bed with a back problem. From there on it is pandemonium and intrigue.

Auditions will be held at 7.30 at Chapel Place on Wednesdays 8th and 22nd March. We are hoping that many new people will come along, whether just interested in reading, auditioning for a part of just being a member of the group. There is always a warm welcome

Performances will be on 6-8th July at The Watermark, Ivybridge
